“Nobody is going to give you the education you need to overthrow them.” - Assata Shakur

BLK SCHOOL is interested in self-determined spaces that encourage the skill-sharing, dialogue and collective learning of Black folks in Birrarunga (Melbourne). The first BLK SCHOOL discussion is a chance to celebrate and get to know folks doing important teaching and learning in our communities.

Local educators speak to each other and us about the legacies and lineages that influence their work, and their visions for Black and Indigenous learning spaces. We talk about the challenges of learning and teaching inside institutions on this land, and different examples of self-determined education spaces created by and for us, whether they already exist, or are still being thought up.

FREE AND ALL WELCOME.
